Hi: Sam is correct that using tar and cpio will not work. Although, Teradata's AMPs manage the data on LUN slices that are raw data. In reality, you might be able to use dd. However, there are problems with it: 1. there are no partial backups or restores, all or nothing 2. it is probably not supported 3. never heard of anyone doing this 4. you would be better off using ASF2, or older ASF (if it still exists) Hope this helps
