Yes you're correct. It looks like my only solution is to enter the ".set session transaction btet;" line prior to logging on or adding in the commits in the appropriate places. Which means changing the application either way.

I was hoping some sort of global user setting was available so any scripts run as user "paul" would be accepted in Teradata mode.
