Tom,
We've been doing some testing with the priority scheduler, and its ability to give priority to our onlines, at the expense of batch
processing. We haven't introduced it into production yet, but our general strategy is to use the default partition performance groups
first, rather than create new resource partitions. In my discussions with NCR, it turns out that background processes continue to use the
default partition, even if you've assigned all your users to new resource partitions. Keep this in mind if you create new resource
partitions: you may not be getting as much of the machine resources as you expect for your online transactions.
