Paul,

WRT point 2 there are at least two utility products that do the unload work from an Oracle database, similar to FastExport from Teradata or bcp from Sybase.

One is from Platinum and is the Oracle version of Fast Unload, which has been available for DB2 for several years. The other is called Checkmate, but I don't know the supplier.

We use the Platinum product for DB2 but not for Oracle.
