Subj:   Re: Canary Queries - TO Analyze System response

From:   frank.c.martinez

Oh, and you should also get ready for the long haul. In my last 11 years at WF, we've gone from a single canary running in multiple workloads, to a suite of canaries that ran in our ad-hoc workload, to a new "canary" based on overall workload query duration. And we have to look at that every year to make sure we're measuring what we wish to measure in order to best serve the users of the system. And the only reason we haven't changed it more often is because designing a canary system is at the very least a small project. So we've kept them as long as we could, as long as they made sense. Oh, did I mention the middle of this, we've worked on making a correlation between our SLA and the information we're collecting/predicting with CPPT? Like I said, the long haul.
