Subj:   Canary Queries - TO Analyze System response

From:   Sravan.Bodla

HI Forum,

Looking for assistance and knowledge on CANARY QUERIES:

I would like to check my system response by running a sample SELECT Query or Canary Query at various intervals on my system during business time. Based on the total no. of queries (canary query) and its response at various intervals, would like to categorize the system behaviour percentage into GOOD, FAIR & BAD.

How to decide the threshold? Because the threshold at one site might be set based on their system configuration and the same thresholds may not work good as others system configuration might be different.

Is there any default threshold for system response?

For example:

     < 500 ms  ->  GOOD
     500ms - 1000 ms   -> FAIR
     >1000 ms  -> BAD

Question 2:

Please let me know how does CANARY QUERIES portlet in VIEWPOINT work? It is showing the system response for 60min to 120minutes interval. Where does VIEWPOINT store this information?

Trying to understand what exactly is my PDCR/PDCRCANARY* users running on the system.

All I need is a percentage of canary queries for that day, showing the metrics as GOOD, FAIR and BAD.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks,

Sravan.
