Subj:   PIVOT function

From:   David Clough

Anyone know if there are plans to provide a Pivoting function in Teradata ?

In Oracle there's PIVOT (UNPIVOT) and LISTAGG, which are certainly useful looking functions.

It just surprises me that for a Data Warehousing Database - as Teradata is - there's nothing that makes the swapping of Rows into Columns simple.

Or .... am I forgetting that it would be difficult to dynamically N Columns from N rows, particularly if N tends to be more than just a few rows ? Hmm, perhaps I am.

Anyway, any knowledge of anything coming along in this area or even that, because of the difficulties involved, we're going to have to code it ourselves forever more, would be useful to know.
