You also want to look at your ODBC date time and timestamp settings. Click on the OPTIONS button on the lower right hand side of the ODBC driver setup page for the connection you are using. On the new window change DATETIMEFORMAT to your desired settings. I recommend AAA which is ANSI for DATE, TIME and Timestamp. You can use this instead of what Mike recommends below.
