Subj:   Re: No Stats better then Current Stats?

From:   Gaitonde, Amol A

Hi James,

Are there any other columns where the stats are absent? You can execute a "diagnostic helpstats on for session" and then execute an explain plan.

See if there are any stats recommended at the end of the statement. This command as per my experience gives all combinations of stats that can be collected( If you are joining columns A and B of a table, it will tell you to collect on A, B and (AB)) But later while implementation don't collect all the recommended ones.

Also please check if you are getting any no confidence anywhere in the explain plan before.

We can blame the optimizer only after we contend optimizer with all stats :-)

Thanks,

Amol
