Subj:   Fallback vs. RAID1 vs. Journaling

From:   Edelsberg, Philip L

Does anyone have any figures on the performance hit of

1. using RAID1 vs. no RAID

2. using Fallback (with RAID1) vs. no Fallback (with RAID1)

3. using Journaling vs. no Journaling

4. What are the points of failure if we do not use Fallback on a RAID1 system?

I know that two amps in the same cluster should stop the system. Will this still happen in a RAID1 environment?

Any other failure points?

Any estimate of uptime percentages for the different cases above?

Thanks,

Phil Edelsberg
