Subj:   Re: Fallback vs. RAID1 vs. Journaling

From:   David R. Stoolman

I believe the RAID1 is a very plus item to the point you would be sorry if you do not go that way! We have some documentation that supports this stand quite well. We elected to forego RAID 1 a couple of years ago and ended up doing an extra upgrade just to go to RAID 1 just to achieve needed performance levels.

Performance hit of FALLBACK, I am not sure is all that great, recovery can have some real pluses and does use some more space. I have never seen any documentation on a performance hit of this option.

Journaling is a concept, we are thinking of posibly investigating and would like an answer on that issue as well.
