Subj:   Oracle - TeraData Equivalence Description

From:   Robert Young

Hi:

I would like to know if anyone has a report or paper that compares Oracle and Teradata as far as their components and what the advantages and/or shortcomings are.

I am working on a Project where I need to be aware of differences and similarities of the components of both databases. I am familiar with the Oracle side but not with Teradata.

For example,

Oracle has:

Enterprise Server
SQL PLus
Net8 (Server/Client) which uses the SQLNET Protocol over ,say, TCP/IP,
Token Ring, etc.
Oracle Enterprise Manager.
JDBC , etc.

I'd would like to know what the equivalent components for Teradata are.

NCR's web site is not clear on this.

I have been perusing NCR's web site but have not found anything even close to what I am looking for. Maybe someone know where in ncr's web sie i could download teradata's documentation for me to read.

Anyway, I thank you in advance for any info you might be able to give me.

Robert Young
