Subj:   The Parcel Stream is Invalid (ODBC Teradata Driver Error)

From:   Nachor, Sherwin

Hi All,

We were encountering an intermittent ODBC error with this message:

"The parcel stream is invalid. Unable to get catalog string.[Teradata][ODBC Teradata Driver] Failed to connect to database using user [USER_NAME] and connection string [Teradata]."

What we still do not know is that, this failure does not happen all the time. Sometimes the query fails and sometimes it succeeds. No regular interval of the failure.

While doing some research on how to solve this, I have read some information with regard to parcels in CLI; but I am having a hard time understanding those technical stuffs. I need help on understanding the following explanation given with regard to this error:

The parcel stream following the message header on the assign, reassign, authorization, single sign-on, connect or reconnect request is not valid either because the sizes of the parcel(s) are wrong or the kinds of the parcel(s) are wrong.

Remedy: Repeat the assign sequence with a good parcel stream.

If there is anyone who could share an explanation about this kind of intermittent error, please help. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Win
