Subj:   Table Locking

From:   David Clough

We've decided to allow some Users to maintain some relatively static data in Teradata Tables, via some Stored Procedures.

What hadn't occurred to me at the time, however, is whether those Updates and Inserts would initiateTable Locks or Row Locks. I somewhat assume the former ,now that I think about it.

Assuming Table level locks, is there any way of making them Row Level locking (in the same way that TPump would 'enjoy') or, since it won't be like an operational database type maintenance (ie. fast, fast, fast), does it not matter ?
