I have heard of a couple of people having problems with the UserOptions - usually caused by some kind of permissions problem that prevents us from writing the file. So that would be when you close the app rather than when you open it. (But it also means that option changes do not 'stick' the next time you use it unless you fix the permissions problem) In your case it looks like the file just got corrupted somehow and it had to reset to its default settings. The secondary message is caused by the fact that by default (when there is no options file) we assume you have either never used SQL Assistant before or you are upgrading from an earlier version. In that case the syntax example files may have changed so we ask if you want to update them. (We don't just overwrite them because it is possible you may have customized them - in which case you would not want us to blow away your changes.) Did this only occur one time or does it occur every time you start the app? (I can see you are using Windows 7 [from the file path] but what version of SQL Assistant is this?) Mike Dempsey
