A Windows server running the Teradata Manager service is required for Teradata Manager alerting. See the Teradata Manager Installation Guide
(available at
www.info.teradata.com).
If you are running Teradata V2R6.2 or later, then consider getting Teradata Viewpoint (which includes a dedicated Linux server) to replace
Teradata Manager for monitoring & alerting. You must switch to Viewpoint if you upgrade to Teradata 13.10 or later.
