From:   de Wet, Johannes M

Vinod - When splitting Full names into First, Middle and Last names, keep in mind that the 'raw' Full names could most likely be of a mixed format, i.e. you could find "John Smith", "John Smith III", "John M Smith", "John JR M Smith" etc.

We have found it difficult in the past to assume a second name is the Middlename, etc. Your best bet, if you have to do this fairly accurately, might be to use a "name dictionary" that contains typical First and Last Names and create a pattern of First, Middle and Last names and then separate them out accordingly.
