Hi, What are you going to do with this data inside the DBMS? If you are simply loading the data and then extracting it again - maybe to use in an external process - then I'd load it as BYTE data. Using BYTE data inside the dbms can be done but you cannot join BYTE columns to any data type other than BYTE/VARBYTE, so they are typically not used much. A potential danger with using CHAR/VARCHAR is that such columns may get translated during import and export operations. BYTE/VARBYTE will not.
