For VARCHAR, neither leading nor trailing spaces are trimmed by the database. Some tools do trim spaces before sending VARCHAR data to the
database, however. For CHAR, spaces will be padded or trimmed on the right to the fixed length specified.
For comparison purposes, leading spaces are significant but trailing spaces are not.
So "ABC " and "ABC" are equal, but " ABC" is different.
