Maybe I'm missing something here but shouldn't the nulls be excluded before spooling. I know if you are joining to the FK value, Teradata will excluded the nulls. But for retrievals, it seems that they should also be excluded.

So if that is true, I don't see any value if supplying a surrogate value.
