If you are setting up your own alert actions the they cannot have spaces between each word. They will not work if you do. So if you are setting up an alert that is named E-mail Admin it wont email you. If you set it up as E-mail_Admin please note the UNDERSCORE in the name then it will work.

Not sure I can word this any clearer.
