I guess the question is why?

But not withstanding that you always have a table (even if it is a pretend 1).

     Select 'GE' as name from (select 1) as DT1
     Union All
     Select 'ME' as name from (select 1) as DT2

It is a mystery to me why it needs a table - it is just one of those things (and I'm sure someone will put one forward).
