So what do you expect to be the impact of an OLAP function on cpu cycles?

OLAP functions are quite powerful but also require some resources - order by means sorts. Without order by still means grouped by aggregations and distribute the results to all relevant rows of the groups. In both cases nothing you can expect to get cheap...

Beside this it would be easier if you share your concrete statements...
