I have a column(decimal(18,0) in table(multiset) with UPI defined.

I am selecting data using sql "sel distinct(id) from table", I am able to see duplicates.

But when I export the data to excel or word pad, Data is fine with out duplicates.

Even with sql assistant, when I use "sel distinct(id as varchar(18)) from table", data is fine

SO why is it behaving mysteriously when I am using simple sel distinct(col) from table

Help would be much appreciated!!!
