Good point Ravi, thanks. Obviously, the problem is in secondary indexes. They are handled in END TRANSACTION STEP. I never thought of that. As they are not partitioned, naturally, they need to be treated differently than the partitioned base table. So elementary, dear Watson. I made a small test and it was proving. Deleting partitions on a table with no SI is much less costly in terms of IOs and CPU. Thanks for your ideas. Tomas
