Subj:   Fastload and unicode data

Can anyone help me with loading Unicode data to Teradata from a Windows platform using Fastload (FL), I'm having all sorts of problems trying to get character sets and definitions correct. I'm at the point where Fastload is rejecting the load saying that the first data record is too long (by 16 bytes if that's relevant).

When running FL, I'm specifying the following parameters:

     -c UTF16
     -i UTF8
     -u UTF8

The Define statement is:

      inf1 (varchar(128) )
     ,inf2 (varchar(128))
     ,inf3 (float)
     ,inf4 (float)
     ,inf5 (smallint)
     ,inf6 (char(4))
     ,inf7 (char(4))

The first two columns are unicode, the last two are latin character set.

As far as I can see the data is correct (it was a simple "select *" from the source table) and the define statement matches the target table def'n.

Thanks.
