Thank you . . . that did it! The % sign in front of the RT as well is what was needed.

I apologize if it wasn't clear, but I did put in another post that I tried the substr function: "However, as you stated, I'm getting back other values besides the 'RT', which I don't want. What code should be used to select the 'RT' out of the i_ird string? I tried substring(18,2) = 'RT', but that didn't work either." I assumed gave the exact placement of 'RT.'

Again, many thanks and I understand what is happening much better now.
