Yes, you can "hand it back" to FastExport and let the utility write to the output file specified in the script.

The documentation isn't as clear as it might be, but that's actually the default behavior - if either input data length or output data length is nonzero on return then FastExport writes from the corresponding record buffer. If both lengths are zero, then FastExport omits the record from the output (as in the example included in the manual).
