You shouldn't use the old syntax anymore:

     select FIELD1 from TEST.TABLE1
     qualify rank() over (order by FIELD2 desc) =1

This might be an ODBC problem, did you submit it using SQL Assistant? Looks like the rank was snipped off.

Try it using BTEQ.
