A similar function to redirecting Unix standard error termed "2", can be performed if running BTEQ from JCL or from Unix. The JCL version is:

     .SET ERROROUT STDERR;

Another messining is:

     .MESSAGEOUT DDNAME=MYOUT

I can provide more detail on the Unix, but the SET ERROROUT above would provide a research basis.
