It would seem to me that the query to checksum the table each time would be just as much of an issue as the query to retrieve the small control
table. Might be better to focus on the workload management attributes of these queries and make sure they get appropriate priority to get done in
a reasonable amount of time even when the system is busy. You can for instance identify the queries against the control tables specifically and
place them in a different TASM workload from the analytic queries submitted by the same user/application.
