Mike has a good point about the math. Is the 'number' going to be used in mathematical calculations? If so, INTEGER would probably be a better choice.

Regards potential expanding to another digit, because Integer value range is -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 - you can go up to 10 'digits provided the value isn't greater than the range.
