Just to comment on this :

If a teradata system has 10 AMPs with vproc numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 the select hashamp() is giving 9 as answer.

select distinct vproc from dbc.diskspace displays all 10 AMP vproc numbers (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
