Hi, The query ** as written ** won't be optimised any differently with statistics or without them. As you've pointed out, if 'col1' is non-indexed then you're looking at an FTS to answer the query. Although the estimated time and row count may change and the confience may change, the actual run-time won't change at all. If the query joined 'tbl' with another table then collecting stats may change the access plan, it would depend on how many rows in 'tbl' had the required value.
