hi all, We have recently upgraded our teradata environment from a 5400 (4 nodes) running V2R6 to a 5550 (3 nodes & 2 ficon nodes & 3 bar nodes) running R12, this also has increased our amps from 32amps to 75amps. While we are experiencing performance improvement for querying, the flip side is that we are experiencing performance degradation for arcmain restores. After detailed work with teradata gsc the conclusion is that this experience is to 'design' rather than a 'bug'. The core reason for this performance degradation is the increased activity between the data dictionary and the additional amps . We use restore as the primary strategy for replicating data to a warm DR environment. The implication for us of restore performance degrading with this upgrade and potentially also with any further upgrades is of great concern to us. A) Does anyone else use arcmain restore as a scheduled process to replicate data to a DR environment ? B) If yes - has anyone experienced our issue and have advice/examples on what strategies they engaged to cope ? Any input would be appreciated rgds anne
