I Rahul, Collecting stats has no hard and fast rules as each set is different based on how the table is accessed, a good rule of thumb is to collect stats on the primary index and its elements, and then analyse how the table is accessed. If the table is used in a number of set reports for example, include stats for the elements used in the joins. I tend to set basic stats as I have mentioned and then do further analysis as the table is accessed to include or remove new or redundant stats. Also I don't collect stats on varchar fields if at all possible. Just remember to keep your stats up to date as out of date stats can have a detrimental effect. Hope this helps Jeff
