Hi Dave, Data types may make a difference if the view is doing calculations or using the underlying columns to create derived columns. Similarly, if the view does the above sort of processing then the view may produce unexpected results depending on the change. Bear in mind that (as Mike Dempsey said) a Teradata view is dynamic and therefore it is 'just a piece of sql' that gets runs (well, sort of). Think of the situations where a given piece of sql can produce 'unexpected results' because the underlying table(s) have changed. A view faces the same potential problem.
