Folks, I'm looking for some experiences of using mixed operating systems (i.e. MP-RAS & Linux) across different servers in a Teradata estate. For example, is it feasible to run our development platform on Linux, with the production machines still on MP-RAS?...or indeed, vice-versa (n.b. the nodes are all 64-bit capable, i.e. 5450 upwards). If they're running the same version of the Teradata RDBMS, then what risks are there in a 'hybrid' approach? Are any bugs attributable to differences in how specific (SQL / utility) operations perform on the different operating systems? I've done some digging around for information on this, but can't seem to track down anything specific....other than reports on migrations that seem to have gone really well! I'd be interested to hear any first-hand experience of MP-RAS to Linux migrations (good or bad), the appropriate level of testing you've found to be necessary, any 'gotchas' discovered along the way, etc, etc. Many thanks, Mark Mark Dodgson Barclays Bank Plc
