Subj:   Re: Creating alert for DB restart

From:   Gupta, Amit

Thanks Andy!!

Your comments were very helpful.

I knew it existed in the TD Manager however it did not work for us.

All email and SNMP services work fine as we get other database space alerts.

I tried to go through the documents and it mentions that events are entered in the sw_event_log table if the OS is MP-RAS. If its linux the events are under the /var/log/messages file in linux. Since ours is a linux system, it might be the reason why our sw_event_log table is empty and hence we are not getting this alert any more.

Is there any other way, how to get database restart alerts on the Linux system. (Teradata installed on Linux operating system.). Is there a way in which the sw_event_log table can be populated in linux based Teradata system.

Thanks.
