So on v12 (on which we are not... Yet.), you can do a "force release locks" in the ARC code. And there's even a DR so that you can do it from within Netvault (guess nobody thought of that the first time). That statement will cause locks to be released even if the backup fails. Supposedly. It'll be cool. When we get to v12 sometime this year.
