JDBC driver (being type IV, i.e. pure Java) has an advantage: the Teradata Tools and Utilities software need not to be installed on the system. You can easily redistribute 3 JAR files taking up together ca. 1.5 MB and that's all. No need for root access (necessary to install CLI and ODBC on UNIX). Just copy files and set the classpath.
