Subj:   Re: Data transfer from one server to other

From:   Victor Sokovin

We are having two Teradata severs viz. Production & Development. We want to move some Big tables (one with 928831637 rows 182 GB & other with 497 GB) from Production server to Development sever what will be the fast and safest option to do so. I have tried Teradata Parallel Transport wizard (TWB GUI mode) but it takes more time and consumes more resources.

Before the wizard entered the scene the DBA folk used to accomplish the task with either the backup utility (back up on Prod - restore on Dev) or setting up a pipe FastExport | FastLoad.

Since the data source in this case is a production system and you probably have it backed up on a regular basis anyway, the first method seems less resource-intensive.

Regards,

Victor
