Subj:   Optimized Joins in Teradata initiated thru SAS

From:   william.gregg

I am not a SAS guru (and I apologize if I just misspelled it).

Has anyone heard if Teradata has optimized (solved) any long-standing issues around left-outer joins initiated thru SAS into Teradata?

I have been asked to shed some light on the item above.

Outside of the standard language that the Teradata Optimizer will handle joins better in v12.0 by thrifting unnecessary columns and tuples out of spools (and joins), I have not heard anything that improves join processing, much less SAS-Teradata handshakes on left-joins.

With the new Teradata-SAS Alliance, something may have been announced that I missed.

On the other hand, this is a pretty granular point to be covered by an announcement.

Anyone out there able to help???

As always, thanks In advance for your time and feedback.

Thanks,

Bill Gregg
