Subj:   Fastload + INS / SEL or MultiLoad

Hi

I am in the process of designing for a production load of data from flat files to Teradata. The options are:

Load to empty staging tables using Fastload, perform check (audit) and then load to final warehouse table using INS / SEL or Use Multiload to load directly to Warehouse tables.

Some additional information:

- The table row size is app. 2800 bytes

- Index is NUPI on a single column on the final target table

- Load is from a flat file

- Will be loading about 20000 rows / day

My concern/s are

For the 1st option the INS / SEL will, over a period of time, will become slower, as the Warehouse table increase in size.. Duplicate row check etc.

For the 2nd option, any audit failure, will mean backing out partial loads plus multi load failures involve complicated recovery action and can be messy! (esp. from support perspective).

I would be happy to hear your experience and would welcome any alternatives to the two option outlined.

Thanks & Regards
