Hello to you all, does anyone know an easy way to change the default character set of an user for a session ? Our current problem is that almost all of our queries are generated by a well-known business intelligence application. This application does not specify a character set when generating a CREATE TABLE statement, therefore the user's default is used. But depending on his current session, the user one time works with unicode data, in another session perhaps with latin data. If he is a LATIN user he gets problems with the unicode data and vice versa. Our current bypass solution is to define two database users, one with default LATIN and one with default UNICODE. Then the user logs on to the business intelligence application; depending on the kind of data the user wants to use the application choses the appropriate database user-ID and logs on to the database. This solution requires a lot of administrative work. Does anyone know a better solution ? Mit freundlichen Gr??en / With best regards Martin Fuchs
