No, integer values of 3885 (don't know where that came from) or 1986 are not valid dates. And if you tried to INSERT or UPDATE them into a date
field you'd get an error. But when you try to compare those values with a date, they are compared as integers - so you don't get an error, you
just never get a match. They would fall between date'1900-12-31' (integer 0001231) and date'1901-01-01' (integer 0010101).
