Simply put...FASTLOAD is limited in the range of transformational or data manipulation operations that can be performed on the fly... If you have MULTILOAD available, which will accommodate this, why not use it? If you are using FASTLOAD, then it is assumed that the target table is empty. While there is much that can be discussed in the area of load performance, for that situation the performance of MULTILOAD compared to FASTLOAD is generally quite comparable, all else being equal.......
