Subj:   Re: Merging large volumes of data into large history tables

From:   Dan Linstedt

Hi Victor,

No worries. I've been in the industry a long time (15+ years), no offense taken, and in fact - you can google me if you wish to find me in many different places. As far as technical and business sides, I cross both. I grew up as an assembly level programmer, and have since migrated to systems architecture and design - specialized in VLDB/VLDW (terabytes to petabyte sized systems). I've been working with the Teradata platform for over 8 years now, and have been trained in the Teradata Factory Class, so I am familiar with the ins' and outs' (most of them).

Anyhow, I really like the exchanges, and in particular - with regards to partitioning, large data sets, and performance. This is what I live for. I've been teaching performance and tuning for all kinds of systems for the past 8 years.

You can find me teaching a Governance & SEI/CMMI class at Teradata Partners(although I don't know if I've been accepted yet this year).

Teradata has some unique propositions for ETL/ELT, performance, near-linear scalability, fail-over, and of course data mining embedded into the SQL layers. It's high powered systems lead the pack when configured properly.

Thanks, and see you out here.

Dan Linstedt
