Hi I'm currently writing a database tool (using .NET C# and ODBC) and I need a method to find the column types of the output of a view. I have tried to use the dbc.Column (and ColumnsX) and it works fine for table columns, but not for views. Columns.ColumnType and Columns.ColumnFormat contains only NULLs. As a last resort I might send a dummy query like "SELECT * FROM ddd.vvv WHERE 0 = 1" and then read the field definitions from ODBC, but I'd rather not. Performance will suffer. Using Teradata SQL Assistant I can see the column types by clicking the view on the left hand side of the screen. So, how does SQL Assistant do this? Thanks! Kaare Wehn
