Subj:   Workload Balance Question

Question to the users of the list about how Teradata handles the workload and resource allocation of queries.

Starting with a quiet environment meaning no other queries running, a heavy resource query enters the system and starts execution. The physical utilization on the server reaches 80% when looking at Teradata Manager. As the next query enters into the system and while the first query is still running, does Teradata automatically balance the resource requirements (io, cpu) between the 2 queries?

And as subsequent queries enter the system, how does it balance resources - if the first query that entered the system is still running does it automatically get fewer resources as other queries start to execute?

Thanks in advance
